 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 716 - 1054 m
 Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan (Ref. 559), Philippines (Ref. 47737) and South Korea (Ref. 77001).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Oviparous (Ref. 205). Eggs are encased in horny shells (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  The Philippine endemic Hydrolagus deani Smith & Radcliffe 1912, considered synonymous to H. mitsukurii, has the range of the latter extended to this country from Japan. However, existence was not observed by the WWF project (Ref. 47737).
