 Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
 Max. size:  8.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 22 - 62 m
 Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: from the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, west to Madagascar and and the southern Red Sea; also reported from Kenya.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Usually lives on sand bottom in shallow waters from depths of 22-62 m. Trawled specimens were collected from 40-55 m on an open sandy area (Ref. 99978).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
