 Family:  Ogcocephalidae (Batfishes)
 Max. size:  7.98 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: off Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and Australia.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. This species is characterized by the following: subopercular buckler dull, with few blunt spinelets at its tip; ventral surface is covered with minute prickles; pointed rostrum, directed rather forward than upward; principal bucklers on dorsal surface relatively small and flattened, interspace fully covered by small bucklers and prickles (Ref. 86633).
