 Family:  Callionymidae (Dragonets)
 Max. size:  8.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 1 - 30 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: southern Japan to the Marquesan Islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 7-9. Identified by starry pattern on body and males by dorsal fin (Ref. 48636).
 Biology:  Inhabits sandy areas of lagoon and seaward reefs (Ref. 1602). Also in sheltered rocky reef habitats in few meters depth, usually in small loose groups (Ref. 48636). Occurs in rubble and algal turfs (Ref. 90102). Feeds on small benthic invertebrates (Ref. 89972).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Neotype locality, Cebu, Lapu Lapu City, SMNS 21263 (Callionymus ocellatus) (Ref. 75992). Also Ref. 5439.
