 Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
 Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 3 - 30 m
 Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Philippines south to Australia and parts of Indonesia. Recently recorded from Tonga (Ref. 53797).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Ochre mid-lateral stripe and a thin bright yellow line along back. Juveniles with pale head and yellow body (Ref. 48635). Description: Characterized by black spot at middle of caudal fin base; greatest depth of body 2.8-3.3 in SL (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Common in shallow waters along mangrove shores to 6-7 m. Solitary or in small groups (Ref 90102).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Type locality (Ref. 48635). Museum: Cavite, CAS 109241 (previously registered in Stanford Univ. coll. no. 9241) (holotype, 5.3 cm SL as Amia cavitiensis). Also Ref. 48613, 90102.
