 Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
 Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 2 - 25 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: ranges from the Indo-Malay Archipelago to New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Adults with orange spots on cheek (Ref. 48635). Description: Characterized by pale yellow color with pair of brown stripes on upper half of side; middle of caudal fin base with small dark spot; juvenile pale yellowish color with four black stripes on head and side, base of caudal fin with black spot at middle; greatest depth of body 2.6-3.3 in SL (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Found in coral reefs, more commonly in aggregations among branching corals (Ref. 36661, 48635).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Reported from Culion; Sitankai, Jolo and Siluag I. In Sulu Province (Ref. 280). Also Ref. 48613, 90102.
