 Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Cheilininae
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 1 - 20 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  A solitary species that inhabits fringing reefs near coral heads (Ref. 9710).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Outside distributional range. Reported from Tubbataha Reefs (Ref. 53416, 57038). Also recorded from Lanuza Bay (Ref. 104756).
