 Family:  Peristediidae (Armored searobins or armored gurnards)
 Max. size:  11.48 cm SL (male/unsexed); 10.73 cm SL (female)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 285 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: the Philippines.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-20; Anal soft rays: 19-20. This species is distinct with the following characters: 33 bony plates in upper lateral row; 24th-25th to 30th bony plate each in upper lateral row with a forwardly directed spine; gill rakers 5 + 1 + 17-19 = 23-25; with a long rostral projection (43.4-47.0% HL); short upper jaw short (41.1-42.3% HL) and lower jaw (36.5-37.2% HL) (Ref. 76745).
