 Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Plectorhinchinae
 Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: Malaysia to Melanesia, north to Japan.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-20; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8
 Biology:  Seek shelter in the reef and feed on a variety of benthic invertebrates.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Known from Puerto Princesa, Palawan (Ref. 58652). Museum: Western Calatagan, Batangas, UPZM 5366. Also Ref. 2334, 53416.
