Fourmanoir (1981) reported two specimens (9.6 and 9.9 cm) caught between 185 and 200 m (Ref. 9494) during the Vauban expedition (Ref. 280). Type locality: Balayan Bay and Verde I. Passage, in 118 fathoms (216 m), Stn. D. 5117, 'Albatross' collections: USNM 93094 (Holotype of Poecilopsetta megalepis, 12.8 cm) (Ref. 311).
