Normally drab, blackish with a pale caudal fin. A small but distinct orange spot on top of pectoral fin base (Ref. 48636). Pectoral-fin axil black. Body depth 2.2-2.4 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
| Adults inhabit inshore coral reefs where currents are strong. Often in large schools that cloud the water above the rocks when feeding on zooplankton. They nest among the rocks (Ref. 48636). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). |
