 Family:  Caesionidae (Fusiliers), subfamily: Caesioninae
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 1 - 30 m, non-migratory
 Distribution:  Indo-Pacific.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 11-12. Body silvery bluish, dorsal side horizontal stripes thick brown and thin light blue alternating (Ref. 90102), ventral whitish. 4-5 cheek scales; 20-30 predorsal scales; supra temporal scale band confluent at dorsal midline; scaled dorsal and anal fins. Postmaxillary processes 2; posterior end of maxilla tapered. Upper peduncular scale rows usually 11 (11-12); lower peduncular scale rows usually 15 (14-17). Process on basioccipital flat for insertion of Baudelot's ligament (Ref. 1723). Head length 2.8-3.9 in SL; body depth 3.3-4.9 in SL (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Ranges widely around coral reefs. Feeds on zooplankton in midwater aggregations. Oviparous, with numerous, small pelagic eggs (Ref. 402).
