Description: Characterized by having variable color, uniformly white, beige, reddish-brown, pink, orange or bright red; soft dorsal fin with small black spot posteriorly; strongly oblique and upturned mouth; concave snout; head, body and fins relatively without tentacles and cirri except prominent skin flap above each eye; two tentacles on underside of lower jaw; body depth 1.9-2.2 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
| A popular aquarium fish, together with Rhinopias frondosa, are collected from Southeast Asian waters, imported to Japan where these are traded separately as different morphotypes (Ref. 57714). Found in coral reefs and ruble bottoms in 18-55 m (Ref 90102). |
