 Family:  Scaridae (Parrotfishes), subfamily: Scarinae
 Max. size:  41 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 1 - 60 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits protected coral slopes (Ref. 9710). Individuals in the terminal phase form harems (Ref. 9710). Feeds mainly on benthic algae (Ref. 3488).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Outside distributional range. Reported from Tubbataha Reefs (Ref. 53416, 57038).
