 Family:  Scyliorhinidae (Cat sharks)
 Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 100 m
 Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan and Korea to Taiwan.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 0-0. 6 to 9 distinct dusky saddle marks, interspersed with dark and light spots; fins plain (Ref. 11146).
 Biology:  A common catshark found on the continental shelf, from close inshore down to at least 100 m (Ref. 244, 11230). Interest to fisheries unknown (Ref. 11146). Oviparous (Ref. 50449).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  The Philippine record needs confirmation (Ref. 11146, 110893). Reported by Herre from Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, 2 specimens (22.5 and 33.0 cm) (Ref. 280); maybe a misidentification of an undescribed species sampled during the WWF project (Ref. 47737). Also Ref. 244, 11230.
