 Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 2,800.0 g
 Environment:  demersal, oceanodromous
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Hokkaido, Japan to the Philippines.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found near shore, on rock bottom (Ref. 11230). Commercially cultured in Japan. Viviparous (Ref. 34817). Anterolateral glandular grooves with venom gland (Ref. 57406).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  venomous
