Dorsal spines (total): 11-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 4-6. Second preopercular spine much shorter than first or third, or lacking. Pectoral rays 21-23. Interorbital width 8-12 % SL, greater than in S. guentheri (Ref. 11015). |
Found on the continental shelf and continental slope. Benthic (Ref. 75154). The dorsal spine contains poison glands which can inflict painful wounds (Ref. 11015). |
