 Family:  Dasyatidae (Stingrays), subfamily: Dasyatinae
 Max. size:  29 cm WD (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal, amphidromous
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: India to southern Japan, Myanmar, Malaya, Indonesia, China and Indo-China.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Common in estuaries (Ref. 4832). Feed on bottom-dwelling organisms (Ref.50449)- primarily small crustaceans, but also small fishes (Ref.58048). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 50449). Landed in very large quantities as by-catch in the bottom trawl and trammel fisheries. Utilized for its meat, but of limited value due to its very small size (Ref.58048).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Suprisingly absent in the southern part of the country (Ref. 47737). Also Ref. 280. In range Ref. 559.
