 Family:  Triacanthidae (Triplespines)
 Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 50 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: China, southeast Asia, Philippines and Indonesia; stray once recorded from Japan.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-24; Anal soft rays: 15-19. Spiny dorsal-fin membrane pale (Ref 9804).
 Biology:  Inhabits sandy and muddy flats of coastal waters. Feeds on benthic invertebrates. Marketed fresh.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
