 Family:  Veliferidae (Velifers)
 Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 110 m
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: taken off southern Madagascar and also reported from India, Viet Nam and Japan. Also found in Indonesia, the Arafura Sea (Ref. 9819) and northwestern Australia (Ref. 5978).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 33-34; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 24-25
 Biology:  Rather rare.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Reported from Balayan, Batangas.
