 Family:  Eleotridae (Sleepers), subfamily: Eleotrinae
 Max. size:  26 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 0 - 5 m, amphidromous
 Distribution:  Africa, Asia and Oceania: East Africa to Society Islands, north of Japan, Vanuatu.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Body dark brown to black with longitudinal lines; fins spotted in young, black in large individuals (Ref. 5493).
 Biology:  Adults inhabit brackish estuaries and medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 2847, 12975, 48637, 44894); also in submerged bank vegetation of freshwater streams (Ref. 41184). Usually found on mud bottoms (Ref. 44894).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Known from Nha Trang (Ref. 58534) and northern Vietnam; identity of all records from Vietnam needs checking (Ref. 44416). Also reported from Song Hau Giang (a branch of the Mekong River also known as the Bassac River) (Ref. 87929). Present in Da River (Ref. 90167, 89724).
