Definition of Term

lanceolate
(english) Spear- or lance-shaped, hence gradually tapering to a point; used to describe a caudal fin with very long middle rays, broad at the base and tapering to a point; most often seen among the gobies. (See also: caudal fin, fin rays, gobies)
