Etymology: Aphyosemion: Greek, aphye, -es, sardine, anchovy + Greek, semeion = mark, signal (Ref. 45335); erythron: This species is named after the regular rows of red dots on side and the red dotted fins, giving an overall reddish impression; from 'erythros', Greek for red (Ref. 74419).
