Inhabits rocky and sandy bottoms, near isolated reefs (Ref. 9119). Mature females are encountered in April and November in the Gulf of California, Mexico and in September in Colombia, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands (Ref. 9119). Marketed fresh or frozen and considered of excellent quality for human consumption (Ref. 9119).
