Etymology: Mendosoma: Venetian, mendole, mendoulo = a fish (cackerel), 1854, named by Cuvier as "Smaris gagarella", 1790 and perhaps other sea breams + Greek, soma = body (Ref. 45335).

Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 22 - 25; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 23-27; Taggstrålar i analfenan 3; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 17 - 21; Ryggkotor: 42 - 46. Dark olive green dorsally, becoming pale on sides, and silvery ventrally. Back and sides striped longitudinally with green lines and small blue dots.

Biologi     Ordlista (t.ex. epibenthic)

Found in large low tidal pools and surge channels (Ref. 9003). May be found living within soft bodied invertebrates (e.g. salps) (Ref. 9003). Juveniles probably pelagic (Ref. 48372).
