tetrodotoxin
(english) The poison found in tetrodotoxic fishes; also called spheroidine, fugu toxin, or puffer poison. The empirical molecular formula is approximately C11 H17 O8 YH20. It is among the most toxic substances known among the non-proteins. It is a sodium channel blocker, preventing transmission of pain signals and is being examined as a non-addictive pain suppressor, 3000 times more powerful than morphine.
