Diagnosis

Description: Silvery gray, often with 5 diffuse dark bars and scattered yellow spots on side and small black blotch on upper margin of opercle (Ref. 90102). This trevally differs from other yellow spotted species by having a deeper body (Ref. 37816). Body strongly compressed, almost ovate, dorsal profile more convex than ventral profile. Head profile mildly curved. Breast scaleless ventrally to distinctly behind pelvic fin base and also to the pectoral fin base. LL scutes 16-20 on straight part and 31-50 total elements (Ref. 559, 90102). First rays of soft dorsal and anal fins equally prolonged in young, the anal fin becoming longer than the dorsal fin with growth, and both ultimately becoming short (Ref. 559). Lobe of second dorsal fin filamentous in young, becoming shorter with age. Teeth widest anteriorly. (Ref. 90102)
