Color is variable. Back yellow-green to olive; sides of head, anterior flank and belly red, which may be present throughout the year or develop during the spawning season; flanks with a narrow pink stripe; flanks and the dorsal, adipose and caudal fins are sparsely spotted; flanks spots below lateral line more numerous posteriorly. Color of young resemble that of O. clarki clarki. |
