Distinguished by the following characteristics: five, brown, roundish blotches along the
lateral midline; predorsal scales 19-27 (Ref. 5218).
Found in fresh and brackish waters (Ref. 4833). Browses on diatoms; not active at low tide, staying in burrows made by Alpheus bisincisus and others.
