Dorsal spines (total): 4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 5. Mouth opening transverse, almost straight. Postdorsal distance usually larger than the predorsal: 100-108% of this. Edge of dorsal fin almost straight. Sides with brownish spots irregularly arranged in the upper half of the body.
