soft rays: 16 - 17. Along side of body with 2 rows of dark brown spots about pupil size, each row continuing as 2 more spots in caudal fin. A series of small dusky spots near base of dorsal fin. Eye very large (diameter longer than snout, 2.7 to 2.95 times in head length) (Ref 42740).
