Comments: Collected from the southwestern end of Luzon Island in the northern part of the Sibuyan Sea. Type locality, MNHN 1998-0647 (holotype of Ariosoma sazonovi, 22.7 cm TL, male (Ref. 54804).

Short description

Dorsal soft rays (total): 212-221; Anal soft rays: 159 - 171; Vertebrae: 146 - 148. Diagnosis: The head and body of this species is light; margins of dorsal and anal fins dark; caudal fins light. Dorsal fin originates above the base of pectoral fin, above the 9th-10th pore of lateral line. Vertebrae 146-148; trunk vertebrae 66-68. Pores of lateral line to anus 46-49. Supraorbital canal 4, suborbital canal 8, preoperculomandibular canal 11, occipital commissure 3 (Ref. 54804).
