Definition of Term

temperate
(english) Moderate climate with long, warm summers and short, cold winters. Can be subdivided into maritime, continental, steppe, and arid. Air temperature may range from -8 to +30°C. Can tolerate minimum water temperatures below 10°C and may have problems with water temperatures above 15°C. (See also: subtropical, boreal, tropical)
tempéré
(french) Climat modéré avec les étés longues, chaudes et les hivers courts, froids. Peut être subdivisé en maritime, continental, steppe, et aride. La température de l'air peut avoir entre -8 à +30°C. Tolère des températures d'eau minimumes en dessous de 10°C et avoir des problèmes avec les températures de l'eau au-dessus de 15°C.
