Short description
Morphology | Morphometrics
Body oblong, compressed, and moderately deep, with an arched dorsal profile; snout prominent; mouth small and inferior; lower jaw enclosed by upper; chin with a stiff barbel; edge of preopercle serrate; second dorsal fin short, with 20 soft rays; pectoral fins with 19 rays; first pelvic ray prolonged; body uniformly dark and silvery; flanks without stripes; fins dark; first pelvic ray white (Ref. 55763).
Found over sandy bottom (Ref. 9118). Juveniles also littoral pools (Ref. 9118). Feeds on fishes, crustaceans and bivalves (Ref. 9118).
