Etymology: Bregmaceros: Greek, bregma = front of the head + Greek, keras, -atos = horn (Ref. 45335).

Issue
The species cannot be distinguished from B. cayorum and is considered invalid tentatively (Torii, 2003, unpublished thesis) (H.Ho, pers.comm. 02/2017).
