Asia: known only from its type locality, the Xiaohei River, a tributary of the Nanting River, Salween drainage in Yunnan, China.

The type locality is characterized by clear and slow-flowing water, bottom with sand and cobble, water depth mostly less than 1 m, velocity of flow about 2 m/s, and no macrophytes in the water (Ref. 82596).
