Cuvier in Cuvier and Valenciennes (1830) and Cuvier in Pietsch (1995) have stated that Bloch (1790), based on a drawing by Plumier, was describing a species of another family, probably a gerreid...corroborated by checking several features of Bloch's drawing and ?or description, such as number of dorsal-fin elements, coloration and distribution. |
