Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, only known from the Sambala River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 93962).

Most probably a lacustrine species that ventures into river mouths; by general features it appears to belong to the shell-dweller group of fishes (Ref. 6770). Bottom-oriented shell breeder (Ref. 95525).
