Remarks 'Ange de mer', i.e., angel of the sea, from Dutch 'zeeëgel', i.e., sea hedgehog or 'jeeëngel', i.e., because the pectoral fins ressemble wings (Ref. 9404); 'ange' from Ecclesiastical Latin 'angelus' borrowed from Greek 'aggelos', i.e., messenger of God; 'mer' from Latin 'mare' (Ref. 9404).
