Remarks | 'moray' from Latin 'muraena' and Greek 'myraina', i.e., a fish of which the ancients were very fond; 'cod', from Old English 'cod', i.e., pouch or with a baglike appearance (p. 122, Ref. 11979); 'Patagonian', i.e. of the Patagonia region in South America, in South Argentina and South Chile between the Andes and the Atlantic of 40°S latitude and sometimes considered to include Tierra del Fuego (p. 1491, Ref. 11978).
