Issue
It seems that there is confusion between two species described by Quoy & Gaimard: Pristipoma sexlineatum now valid as Pelates sexlineatus (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824), and Pelates sexlineatus Quoy & Gaimard, 1825, the present species, described one year later. See nomenclatural details in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Mar. 2012: Ref. 89686). A species page will be created for the next update for the species described in 1824. A new replacement name would be needed for the species of 1825 if is is placed again in Pelates.
