Etymology: Labeo: Latin, labeo = one who has large lips (Ref. 45335); falcipinnis: From the Latin falcicula meaning sickle and pinna meaning feather, fin; named after the shape of the last single and the first branched dorsal fin rays which are the lomgest and which are falciform (Ref. 12456). Genital orifice very far from the origin of the anal fin; maxillary barbels large, rostral barbels small, not externally visible (Ref. 26192).
